A shady nook

It was very blustery today here in Nelson, and occasionally quite overcast. That put paid to any beach venture. Instead I found a secluded corner in Samuel's Rose garden, Nayland Road. Sheltered, with an inviting bench under a pergola, it was a lovely spot to spend the afternoon.

  2. I love using bright colours, but at this stage anyway I can't invent them. If I try they go wrong. I'm much better working from a colourful subject before me. This year I have discovered rose gardens.

  3. Aaah one of my favourite flowers. Rose gardens, oh if they were looked after as they used to be.... but time, expense sometimes prevail. Do hope you have enjoyed your 'floral' journey. They look great. j

  4. Rose gardens from now on will be a special part of my oeuvre. I don't want to paint closely detailed still life studies, but record my response to their freshness and beauty in real time. They are my special flower too.
